I did this hike together with two friends on the 9th of May, 2024. We wanted a hike not too far from Zürich, and since none of us had been to Wägitalersee before, we decided to go.

After a short train ride from Zürich to Siebnen-Wangen and a bus to Vorderthal, we started the hike. The weather forecast had been changing a lot, but we started out with blue skies and sun.
The first part of the hike,up to Rötstock was on normal road, after which it turned into a hiking trail up through the forest.
Walking along the ridge, we had nice views towards Bockmattli, with the constant changing clouds, making their way over the peaks. The hiking trail up over the ridge was relatively easy, and with only a few short steeper sections.
We reached Brüschstockbügel for our lunch break, from where you have great views down over Wägitalersee. There started to be more clouds, but we could still see the snow covered peaks in the background.
Walking down from Brüschstockbügel, we had even closer views of Brockmattli and Schiberg. There is a trail going up between the two peaks, from where you can cross over to the other side and down to Obersee.
As we continued our descent, more flowers started to appear, which made for some very nice views of Wägitalersee. The clouds cleared once more, and we had almost perfect views to the Turner peak in the far back.
As we made our way down to Innerthal at Wägitalersee, we came across one of the most impressive collections of garden gnomes, I have seen so far in Switzerland.
Back in Innerthal, we took a bus to Siebnen-Wangen, where we caught a train back to Zürich.
