Pany – Chruz

Pany - Chrüz

I did this hike together with a friend on the the 3rd of May, 2025. We had been looking for snow free hikes with panoramic views, and came across the Panyer Rundweg on Switzerland Mobility. The weather forecast was changing a lot the days before, but we still decided to go and hoped for some sun and nice views.

Full route: Swisstopo

After two trains taking us from Zürich to Küblis and a bus to Pany, we started the hike. The weather was from the start quite good, and the snow covered mountains and spring flowers made for some very nice scenery.

As we made our way up towards the Chrüz peak, it got more cloudy, but we still had very nice views. The hiking trail was everywhere filled with different flowers, which was a nice contrast to the still brown grass. The trail itself wasn’t too difficult, although in a few places quite steep for a shorter time.

As we made our way up, there started to be more snow, but it didn’t cover the trail. The closer we got to the top, the greater the views into the valley and to the mountains above. The air was relatively clear, and we could also see the mountains in the distance around Klosters and Davos.

We finally reached the top and was greeted by a light rain as the clouds drew in closer around us. We still had great views though, and it was nice to look down on the trail we had hiked so far, and also see the difference between the snow covered and snow free side of the mountain.

We didn’t stay long at the top of Chrüz as it was getting colder and more windy. The trail was for the first half hour down mainly snow covered, and it took us some time and a couple of smaller detours to get through this part. Looking back, we could see the whole ridge we had walked on, on the way up to Chrüz.

The rain stopped as we made our way further down, and we decided to stop for a lunch break among the crocus fields. From here, we also had great views in direction Austria and the Drusenfluh peaks.

The last part of the trail down was through forest and open fields, and towards the end, we also had to cross a smaller suspension bridge, which was a nice ending to the hike.

Back in Pany, we took the bus down to Küblis, and from here started the journey back home to Zürich.
