Jöriseen Rundweg

Jöriseen Rundweg

I did this hike on the 23rd of August, 2025, together with my knitting club. I had seen pictures from this hike on Schweizmobil, and thought it looked really great, so we decided to go.

To get to the start of the hike, we took a train from Zürich to Landquart and from there continued towards Davos. The road over Flüela pass is closed during winter, so the bus to the start of the hike, only runs during summer.

Full route: Swisstopo

The weather forecast had been changing a lot in the week before we went, but despite the low hanging clouds, it was quite nice weather. It was the first time I was in the area around Flüela pass but I really liked it, and definitely have to come back.

The ascent starts right from the beginning of the hike, up towards Winterlücke at the first top point of the hike. The hiking trail was some places overlain by lose material and narrow, but nowhere did any of us find it problematic.

The clouds constantly changed, making for some very picturesque views as we walked down towards the lakes. There are several lakes on this hike, all in different sizes and with different water color.

As we approached Jöriseen, the clouds cleared and the sun made for some great views and colors of the surrounding landscape. I found this hike to be very diverse, constantly changing surroundings and views.

As you approach the larger lakes, the path flattens out, and there are several smaller trails leading to the different lakes. We walked around for some time, enjoying the scenery and then decided to have lunch here, before the climb back up. The wind picked up as we were having lunch, so we quickly got cold and decided to continue.

On the last part of the flat trail by the lakes, there was really stunning views down into Jörital, and towards Roggenhorn in the background. It almost at times felt like we were in the beginning of autumn, despite it still being August.

Hiking up again, the trail was the same as earlier, a bit narrow and with slightly lose material, but also here did no one find it problematic. At the last part, just before you reach the second top point of this hike, there is a short part with a rather steep side and chain you can hold on to, which can be problematic for people with vertigo.

Up at the second top point we took our time to once again enjoy the views. I find it very nice when you can look back and see big parts of the trail you have already covered. We never got a full view of the surrounding landscape, but what we saw was really beautiful and calls for more hiking.

After a small sprint to make it in time for the bus, we made our way back to Davos, Landquart and then Zürich.
