Val Champagna - Alp Languard
I did this hike on the 26th of July, 2024 as part of a two day hike, where I stayed over at the Morteratsch campground. I got inspiration for this hike from Switzerlandmobility and the hike Senda Val Champagna, which I modified, to the below trail. On day 2, I met with some friends and hiked into Morteratsch Glacier.

I went from Zürich to Bever with train and started the hike right from the train station. The first part out of town and across the valley was flat and very beautiful running along the river. As I made it to the other side of the valley floor, I started the ascent and quickly made my way up through Val Champagna.
The weather was great and I was completely alone walking up through the valley, which made it a very calm part of the trail. Halfway up through the valley, I took a break to relax and enjoy the views. From here, I could see back in direction Bever and the valley behind, which I have hiked in before, from Bever to Preda.
The last part of the trail up to Fuorcla Val Champagna went over more lose material, but it was not difficult, and I made it up to the top, where I decided to take my lunch break. Just on the other side of the lake, there were some really nice rock glaciers, which I was happy to see.
There started to be more people on the trail up here, but it was still quiet and I had found a spot a bit away from the trail. The views down to Lej Muragl and the mountains behind were just spectacular and I spend quite some time here taking photos.
After my break, I continued on the trail down to Muottas Muragl. From here, I crossed over on the other side of Val Muragl and took the trail leading up to the top. The way up was in some parts steep, but not difficult and as I got closer to the top, I got the first views down to St. Moritz and Silvaplana.
After passing over the top, I had amzing views down into Val Roseg and Val Morteratsch, and to the mountains and glaciers above the valleys. The trail down to the cable car I wanted to take down to Pontresina was nice and not too long, but it had gotten very warm and I was happy when I finally made it.
Down in Pontresina, I did some grocery shopping before getting on the bus that took me to Morteratsch campground. It is a really nicely located campground, and after putting up my tent and a long shower, I had dinner and relaxed before I went to bed and had a good nights sleep.
