Engelberg - Fürenalp
I did this hike on the 5th of October, 2022. I love autumn, and I had been looking at different webcams to see where I could find some nice autumn colors. Since the area around Engelberg already looked very good, I decided to go and do the hike below.

I took a train from Zürich to Luzern where I changed to the train to Engelberg. It was a very nice crisp autumn morning when I started my hike. Walking out of Engelberg, I quickly had great views to the surrounding mountains.
The hiking path turned from a gravel road into a regular hiking path as I made my way up through the forest. Looking back, I could see Engelberg in the valley below and the many different autumn colors on the trees.
As I got higher in the forest, the colors of the trees turned more orange and yellow, and with the sun shining from a blue sky, it made for some amazing autumn scenery.
As I came up through the forest and above the vegetation, I had great views to the opposite site of the valley in direction Trübsee and the mountain peaks above. Up here, the hiking path again turned into a gravel road, and the entire trail was generally very easy.
The upper part of this trail towards Fürenalp was really nice. The trail is relatively flat, filled with small rivers and waterfalls, and you have great views to the mountains on the opposite side and the Firnalpeli glacier just below Titlis.
Reaching Fürenalp, I decided to take a break and have some lunch. I had been alone on the trail so far, but here at Fürenalp, there were more people, as there is a restauant at the top of the cable car.
After the break, I continued and started the descent. From here, the trail was on gravel road and it was a nice and easy walk down.
Walking back in direction Engelberg, you follow the river for a long time. The trail mainly runs above the river, but I took some smaller breaks down by the river along the way to enjoy the views and calmness.
I slowly made my way back into the more vegetated area agin, and also here, the autumn colors were great. It was a near perfect day for autumn hiking, and I was really happy I had decided to go here.
As the hike was already a bit long, I decided to end the hike at the Fürenalp cable car, from where I took a bus back to Engelberg. In Engelberg I caught the train back to Luzern and from there made my way back home to Zürich.
