Braunwald Panoramaweg
I did this hike on the 14th of August, 2022. It was the first time I visited Braunwald, but I have been there many times since, as I really like this area. The top part of this hike is the Braunwald Panoramaweg, which I had seen pictures from. I decided to start and end at the Braunwaldbahn, to make the hike a bit longer.
Full route: Swisstopo
Walking out of Braunwald, you immediately have amazing views to the surroungitn mountains. The weather was very nice, with only a light cloud cover on the sky, and despite it being August, not too warm.
I had included the extra part before and after the panoramaweg, not only to make the route a bit longer, but also because I like walking through forest. I like when my hikes are a combination of parts through forest, near water and in open landscapes.
Once I came up through the forest and into the open landscape again, I had amazing views. The peak of Ortstock rises above Braunwald, and in the background, I could see the glacier on the Tödi mountain peak.
From here, I now continued on the Braunwald Panoramaweg trail. This loop is really nice, as you have views in all directions. As I made my way to the top, I for the first time had views down towards Oberblegisee, which is a really nice lake, I have visited a couple of times.
There are plenty of places along this trail to take breaks and enjoy the surrounding views. As there were quite a lot of people gathered further ahead, I decided to stop and have lunch a bit before I reached the top point.
On the whole trail, there were lots of flowers, which made for some nice scenery and pictures. I really like the colorful contrast between the wildflowers and the grey mountians.
Walking back down, the cloud cover started to be more dense and grey, but it didn’t spoil the great views over the area.
Back in Braunwald, I took the Braunwaldbahn down, and from here caught a train back to first Ziegelbrücke and then Zürich.
